The 2009 Grand National is set to be as exciting as any previous year. Here we provide a Grand National Guide to help where we can. There are some aintree hints and tips to think about for the Grand National and also some past trends that could be a pointer to 2009.
Looking back at the previous Grand Nationals its fairly easy to see what type of horse wins the Grand National. We hope you find this Aintree racing guide helpful.
Winners at Aintree for the Grand National genrally have the following traits:
- The horse has a handicap rating of above 135 on the race day
- Have won over at least a 3 mile race
- Have ran in a minimum of 10 chases
- Between 8 and 12 years old
- Weigh no more than 11st 5lb
You should keep these trends in mind whilst choosing your horse using the Free Grand National Bets available through this sites links.
The race is comprised of 2 full circuits of a special 2¼ mile racecourse, where riders and their horses will face 30 truly testing fences in the world of horse racing.
There are 16 fences on the course, and these are jumped twice, with the exception of The Chair and the Water Jump.
The long run in from the last fence to the final finish is the longest in the UK. For many riders over the years, this last stretch has turned into agony when the winning post seems to be getting further away.
